(Revised 5/16/2024)

When people think about campus-based retirement living organizations like our Life Plan Community here at Homestead Village, they often focus on the variety of housing and care options available. But innovative accommodations and a safe, friendly environment are far from the entire story about what makes Life Plan communities so popular and unique.

Homestead Village is fortunate to be located in the middle of a wealth of interesting and exciting adventures to explore. Enjoy historic battlefields, museums, nationally recognized gardens, world-class orchestras, Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, our nation’s capital, and colleges and universities that offer engaging continuing education. Within a few hours’ drive on a comfortable coach, we can also be in several major cities enjoying their sights and cuisine.

Not only is our campus in the middle of an amazing location, but within Homestead Village itself, you will find so many opportunities to do that you will have to make choices. Today’s post will introduce you to some of those options.

What is Life Enrichment?

In short, life enrichment is scheduled programming that helps residents open up to new experiences and pursue hobbies and pastimes they enjoy.

The goal of life enrichment is to improve and maintain individuals’ quality of life in mind, body, and spirit. Homestead Village offers a balanced program that includes the areas of education, fitness, the arts, leisure, spiritual growth, and outreach.

A team of dedicated staff members, including a Life Enrichment Coordinator and a Life Enrichment Associate, collaborate with our 28 resident-led activity committees that help to maintain the unparalleled quality of our ongoing program. The team also coordinates trips of various kinds, such as local excursions, day trips to places like Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., and overnight trips that have recently extended our reach to North Carolina, Virginia, and the New England states.

Homestead Village Offers a Smorgasbord of Life Enrichment Options

Within our community at Homestead Village, available activities are advertised monthly in our “Adventures in Life” guide, which gives all the details of trips, special events, and meals, as well as recurring club meetings and volunteer opportunities, including:
