Groundbreaking Ceremony Held: Launching Construction of The Townstead Apartments at Homestead Village
On September 18, 2024, future Townstead residents and guests gathered for an intimate ceremony to mark the celebration of the groundbreaking of The Townstead Apartments. This new development is another step in the master campus plan for strategic growth at Homestead Village, promising another great option and bright and vibrant future for all our residents.
Douglas Motter, President of Homestead Village, members of the Board of Directors, the Homestead Village Leadership Team, as well as representatives from Warfel Construction and RLPS joined in the celebration. Members of the Homestead Village Welcoming Committee also attended the event to help make guests feel right at home. Their presence highlighted just how important this project is, not only for the community but also for the ongoing growth and development of Homestead Village.
The future residents of The Townstead Apartments, who are eagerly looking forward to their new homes, were especially happy to continue building relationships with their future neighbors. Set to open in Spring 2026, this 73-apartment building will offer modern, comfortable living spaces and amenities for everyone.
The ground breaking ceremony commenced with a blessing from the Homestand Village Chaplain, Wayne Cooley. Skip Zeiders, a Homestead Village Resident who also serves on the Homestead Board of Directors and other resident council committees welcomed guests with heartfelt words about why Homestead Village is so special. Additionally, Donald Stalnecker of Warfel Construction and Dustin Julius of RLPS recounted all the careful planning and dedication that have gone into this project. Plus, they updated guests on the fabulous renovations happening around our community, including the brand-new Café that opened in late August, and coffee shop and salon coming soon. The ceremony concluded with inspirational remarks by Douglas Motter, President, and plenty of photos with hard hats and shovels.
With over 60% of the apartments reserved, future residents are looking forward to begin making their selections and customizations for their apartments. Technology such as Warfel’s Virtual Design Modeler will help in the selections process by allowing future residents to easily see and try various color combinations of cabinetry, paint, flooring, countertops, backsplash, and other finishes to virtually create their future spaces. Each incoming resident will also have a personal meeting in our design studio to finalize selections in person. This is an exciting time for our future residents to add personal touches to their new homes.
Future residents Mike and Diane are looking forward to the Townstead because they “can enjoy traveling the world and not have to worry about home maintenance; it’s a wonderful “home base” for our active lifestyle with a wonderful support system if we ever need it in the future.” As soon as they reserve, future Townstead residents are invited to participate in choice campus activities and events, and even trips such as our “Yuletide Finery in Newport Rhode Island” excursion this winter.
Homestead Village is also proud that The Townstead apartments enable residents to “Thrive where they are” by bringing personal care services to individual apartments if needed in the future. This is a forward-thinking plan to meet residents needs without having to require a physical move to a personal care building in a separate location. This is also a wonderful plan for couples who wish to reside together even if personal care is needed down the road. Additionally, all the amenities, services, and continuum of care households are under the same roof as The Townstead, allowing ease of access for all.
