Mack’s Coffee and Cream – Now Open at Homestead Village!

With much anticipation and enthusiasm for the grand opening, Mack’s Coffee and Cream shop began serving Residents at Homestead Village on March 18, 2025!  From delicious specialty coffees, to gelato, to sandwiches and avocado toast, the menu selection has been very well received by residents, guests, and even HV staff!  In fact, the coffee being served was chosen by popular vote of our residents during a special tasting event prior to Mack’s opening.

The inspiration for the Mack’s name comes from Lancaster’s rich coffee history.  Beginning in 1895, Horace Mack and his son J. Edward Mack started a coffee business here in Lancaster. Known as “Mack the Coffee Man,” their coffee businesses grew to sell over one million pounds of coffee per year up and down the east coast, according an LNP historian. The business was sold in 1967, and their former building was donated to the Fulton Theatre.

The coffee shop is located just inside the Homestead Village Apartments Building main entrance at 1800 Village Circle, and welcomes guests with delicious aromas of fresh coffee as they enter the lobby.  Formerly offices, the addition of the coffee shop meant the removal of numerous walls and major renovations to the campus center.

Mack’s Coffee and Cream is not the only new thing at Homestead Village. Beginning with the Stauffer Spring House café & club house in 2022, to our fully renovated Luna & Solis Dining Venues in 2024, there is so much to be excited about at Homestead Village! Solis (Latin for ‘sun’) and Luna (Latin for ‘moon’) have re-imagined the way our residents enjoy our central dining and added over 3,000 square feet of additional dining space. Additional renovations also include the front lobby areas, library, and corridors.  A new, centrally located salon and spa, named “Bloom,” also began serving residents in March of 2025!

With RLPS Architects and Warfel Construction leading the way, these renovations and additional amenities are all part of Homestead Village’s master plan that includes the new Townstead Apartments, which will be completed in spring of 2026.  The apartments are 80% reserved as of March 2025.

Our purpose at Homestead Village is “To serve all who come into our community with genuine and remarkable kindness, respect, and skill. Our service is based on the hallmarks of individuality, continual improvement, engagement in the broader community, and commitment to complete wellness.”  These beautiful spaces allow us to do just that – and so much more!
